What Does a Concrete Driveway Cost in Norman & Oklahoma City?
Most contractors around here won't put a number on a website. Here's what driveway concrete actually runs in the Norman and OKC market, what makes it go up, and how to sanity-check a quote you've been handed.
The short answer
Published cost surveys put new driveway concrete in the Norman and Oklahoma City market at roughly $5–$11 per square foot for a standard un-reinforced slab, which works out to about $2,900–$5,300 for a typical two-car driveway. If an old driveway has to come out first, budget another $1.10–$1.80 per square foot. Sources vary more than you'd expect, so treat these as a range to sanity-check quotes against, not a price.
Why quotes on the same driveway come back so far apart
Thickness, reinforcement, and base prep are the usual reasons. Four inches is standard for cars; trucks, RVs, or equipment need more concrete and more steel. Base prep is invisible in the finished product but it's most of what decides whether the slab is still flat in ten years — and it's the easiest line for a cheap bid to skip.
The Oklahoma factor: expansive clay
Much of central Oklahoma sits on clay that swells when wet and shrinks when it dries. That movement is the single biggest reason slabs crack and settle here, and it means proper base prep and drainage matter more locally than they do in a lot of markets. A quote that includes real excavation and compacted base is not padding the number.
Access changes the price
A ready-mix truck that can back straight up to the forms is cheap. A pour that has to be wheeled in by buggy or pumped over a house costs meaningfully more in labor and equipment for identical square footage. If two quotes are far apart on the same driveway, access is often the reason.
How to compare two quotes fairly
Get both in writing with the thickness, the reinforcement, the base prep, and whether tear-out and haul-off are included. A bid that's 30% cheaper is usually cheaper for a reason — thinner slab, less base, no reinforcement, or removal billed separately later. Those aren't automatically wrong choices, but you should know which one you're buying.

How much does it cost to tear out an old driveway in OKC?
Removal and haul-off typically adds around $1.10–$1.80 per square foot in this market. On most replacement jobs it's included in the quote rather than billed separately — worth confirming either way.
Is concrete or asphalt cheaper in Oklahoma?
Asphalt is usually cheaper up front. Concrete generally lasts longer and needs less recurring maintenance, and it handles Oklahoma summer heat better than asphalt does. Which is the better value depends on how long you plan to be in the house.
Does the clay soil mean my driveway will crack anyway?
All concrete cracks somewhere — the job is controlling where. On expansive clay, that means proper compacted base, correct thickness, reinforcement where it's called for, and drainage that moves water away from the slab instead of under it.
